WordPress is one of the most popular and powerful content management systems available. It’s extremely easy to use and you can use it for almost anything from photography to its more popular use, blogging. WordPress is not only free to get started but offers free support, free themes, free plugins, and more. Used on countless sites and seen by millions each day you’ll also be surprised to know that it is not only free but you can actually use it for earning money online.

1. WordPress Themes and Plugins

One of the first ways to start earning money online with WordPress is through customizing and creating themes and/or plugins. Creating a plugin often times comes from personal interest or need. If there is something that could be useful to you and worth creating a plugin for then chances are others could benefit from it is as well and it could turn into profit. A lot of the plugins that you will find on WordPress are free and a great option to begin building a reputation.

A next step is creating a premium version of an existing plugin that you’ve made that you can sell and offer either more advanced or additional features with. Another potentially lucrative option is to create themes. The larger the audience for a particular theme, the more likely you’ll be to see success. You can offer both free and premium versions and charge a fee per theme or create bundles and charge a monthly fee for users to be able to access them all.

If you know what you are doing and have the desire to help others, offering services is a great way to make money through WordPress. You can offer consulting services if you are especially proficient and even make tutorials to help out other users. Offering a blog setup service is something that even a novice can do to start earning. You may even be able to earn commission through recommending services, themes, etc. from other sites.

A lot of online blogs or job searches can lead you to content writing jobs through WordPress. If you have a strong creative style or a desire to be a blog writer, this may be your niche for making money through WordPress. Once you set up your blog on WordPress you can also apply to use Word Ads. Once you are approved, the more traffic you have the more profit you’ll see. This isn’t a fast cash option by any means, but the more you build your blog and followers, the more success you’ll see with this option. A more successful blogger may also have the potential to earn money through Sponsored Posts. A lot of times you’ll need to be the one that reaches out offering this service unless it is something that you are already successful at or your blog is doing exceptionally well.

Since the possibilities are so vast with WordPress it is very easy to simply set up your site for the purpose of making money. If you have products or services to promote and sell you can use your WordPress site for just that. The great thing is that you can combine any of the above and make your site work for you. If you want to make a DIY blog and sell your products, sell downloadable images that you create, or even set up a help site that offers free and paid tutorials; all of those things are possible.
